A post created by the user “Anders” will have that user listed as its author, for instance. WordPress includes archives for authors of different content types. The default author archive for regular posts is www.website.com/author/username/. Posts usually display the name of the author on the template for single posts. When you’re logged in, you can see the author of each post in the “Author” table column when viewing Posts → All Posts. In the WordPress ecosystem, the word author can also refer to one of the five default user roles. A user role is used to define what capabilities a user has. Users with the author role can create, edit, publish and delete their own posts and pages, but they can’t edit content created by other users. They also can’t change the plugins, themes or settings on a WordPress site.
